Once Upon A Monthly Challenge #3

Hi,  Welcome to the latest addition of OUMC (Once Upon A Monthly Challenge) that my friend Elena and I started a couple of months ago.  This time I was Challenge Hostess and picked out this Inspiration Photo for us to make our cards from.  I found this photo at Pottery Barn sometime back and now can't locate the original but that shouldn't matter  I loved the colors of this bedding ensemble and created my card around that.

My "blue" tone is a bit different then the IP but pretty close.  I used one of my Papertrey Ink stamp sets, Flutterby Friend for this card.  I started first by stamping the leaves in Kiwi Kiss ink and then the flowers with Baja Breeze ink.  So far so good...then it came time to mount this to card stock and would you believe I could not find a piece of Baja Breeze cs anywhere.  I wasn't about to stamp the image panel again so I kept searching and finally found 2 pieces (one pretty much wrinkle up that I salvaged enough out of to mount the image on and then another piece that I made the card base from.
Now that my card is posted I just found out that I could have stamped my flowers differently as I missed seeing that there is a small stem piece in the set which is designed to use with the leaves that I stamped.  Oh well (live and learn) and it really doesn't look bad stamped this way too.
I recreated the look of the Rattan/Wicker bed frame using Kraft (or Crumb Cake) cs and the Square Lattice SU Embossing Folder.  This was mounted on Kiwi Kiss cs stamped with the Aida Cloth-retiredSU background stamp and Kiwi Kiss ink.  Next I punched a Label with Whisper White cs and added the word, Friends with Baja Breeze in, threaded some Old Olive Twill ribbon through it and tied a bow.  The butterfly was stamped with Baja Breeze and I water colored in a little Kiwi Kiss ink and added some clear Glitter then mounted it with mounting tape.  Lastly I used the Chain border punch (EK Success) and added the white border at the bottom of the card.

Now you are seriously going to want to visit Elena's Blog to see the card she sent me. It is just AWESOME! I hadn't sent her card before I mailed mine out and was surprised and delighted to see that we had come up with two very different cards but yet side by side they looked fabulous. I took a picture of them together but don't want to spoil the surprise of your seeing her card so hop on over to her blog and leave her some comment lovin. She adds such great details to her cards. I love the sewing, the pearl swirl embellishment, the buttons, the papers...well the whole card is just amazing!!

Owl Inspiration

It's been awhile since I've played over on SCS with the Saturday Inspiration Challenge but I thought I would give it a try today.

I went to the Curiosity Shoppe and found this picture which I used as the inspiration for my card.

I also used the sketch on Taylor's Blog for Cupcake Friday and the Sew Simple Challenge on The Greeting Farm Blog for this card.

My card base is: Chocolate Chip layered with Kraft stamped with the Woodgrain BG in Creamy Caramel. I did some "faux stitching" around the sides and bottom of the cs and added 4 brown brads to the corners. Next I stamped a piece of Basic Gray Lemonade DP with the frond stamp from SU Paradise stamp set in White Craft ink and distressed the bottom edge and also machine stitched on the DP.
The Owl image is from The Greeting Farms-Deer Friend stamp set and the sentiment is from McSplendid Farm. I colored the Owl with Prisma Color Pencils and sponged some Cool Caribbean ink around the owl and stamped the sentiment with Chocolate Chip ink. I stamped the frond leaf again on white cs with the Cool Caribbean ink and cut it out. I mounted the leaf along with a brown button tied with hemp twine to complete my card.

I'm not sure if the faux stitching works or not but I'm leaving it as is. I love how the leaves stamped in the white turned out though on the DP.

Flowers, Fairies and Butterflies

I saw this challenge on the Greeting Farms Blog Farm Fresh Friday - Fluttery Floral and just had to give it a try.                                 Awhile back my friend Elena sent me some stamped images from the Greeting Farm and one of them was this adorable Fairy called, (Fairy Eva) and I thought she was perfect for this challenge.                                             For your card you had to use flowers, and at least one butterfly.  I had this great paper (DCWV) that had butterflies on it and thought it was perfect for this challenge.
My card baseis Pixie Pink layered with Apricot Appeal and the Butterfly DP from Die Cuts with a View. I also added a small piece of Pretty in Pink embossed with the Floral Fantasy embossing folder and my Cuttlebug.  I added a lacy border in Pixie Pink that I punched with a Martha Stewart Punch and stitched with my Janome Sew Mini.  The sentiment was stamped with Pumpkin Pie ink and is from the Greeting Farm set, (McSplended Farm).  I colored Fairy Eva with Prisma Color pencils and blended her with Gamsol.  Then I added some Crystal Glitter (Art Institute) to her wings and layered her to Pixie Pink cs with my Nesties.
My flower is a combination of a Daisy Doodle Silk flower and some punched flowers (SU-retired).  I added brads (Queen and Co.) and Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain ribbon and some punched butterflies (source unknown) to complete my card.
I hope you like it.
