Fun with Flamingos

Welcome. Hope you have all had a good week.  I've had the chance to do a little stamping this week which is always nice.

In my previous post I posted this card featuring a new stamp set that I purchased recently. Today I am sharing 2 more cards that I created using the same stamp set.

I have a FB/ photography friend who's wife loved flamingos and after she passed away he would insert a small flamingo into his photos as a way of honoring and remembering her.  So I decided to send him a photo of this card and he loved it.  After some chatting about making/selling cards I told him I would just make one and send it to him.

Well the card maker in me just couldn't stop with one card so I sent him three.

Here are the other two cards:

For this card I used: Shaded Spruce, Bermuda Bay and Whisper White card stock.  Inks: Calypso Coral, Mint Macaron, Shaded Spruce, and Memento Tuxedo Black.
I stamped the palm leaves randomly on the white card stock and used my new, Stitched Whimsy die to create a fun border. Then I distressed the edges with the mint ink.  The flamingo and larger flower were stamped with the Coral ink and fussy cut. I also edged the larger flower with the coral ink.  On the Bermuda Bay piece I used a Versa Mark pad and a retired background stamp (SU-Sanded)
The sentiment was stamped with the Tuxedo black ink.  I mounted the flamingo with foam tape an added a tiny black bead for the eye.

For this card I used Melon Mambo, Basic Black card stock.
Ink: Melon Mambo, Shaded Spruce and another pink ink along with the Tuxedo Black ink.

The patterned paper is from the Place and Time summer pack (JoAnns). I used a water brush to pick up colors of ink to paint onto the small flower image and a basic black marker for the flamingo's beak.  I used a retired SU corner punch to create the tag and small circle punches for the flowers. I also used a piece of Washi tape (Park Lane) and the Palm Branch Sizzix embossing folder on the black card stock - Enlarge to see detail.

I had fun with these cards and plan to use the Pineapple stamp that came in the set really soon to share with everyone.

Have a great day & Happy Stamping.

Freshly Made Sketch #469 - Hello There

I finally had a chance to play today with my new stamps set, Sweet Strawberry.

I started with the latest Freshly Made Sketch challenge #469

Below is the card I made using this sketch.

Stamp set: Sweet Strawberry
Designer Paper: Berry Delightful
Card Stock: Pacific Point, Shaded Spruce & Whisper White
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Real Red, Garden Green, Memento Tuxedo Black.
Other: Strawberry Punch
The punch and stamp set are part of the Sweet Strawberry bundle in the new mini catalog (SU) and the designer paper is from the current Sale-a-bration catalog.

I love this new stamp set and paper.  I picked strawberries for 8 summers as a kid so this was the perfect stamp set for me.  I love summer and strawberries, can't wait till June when we get fresh local berries once again.

Mod Squad Challenge - Fly Away & NBUS

Hello & Welcome.

Today I'm joining the current Mod Squad Challenge - Fly Away and will also be entering this on the NBUS #22 blog since I'm using brand new stuff on today's card.

Here is my card:

For this card I used a brand new stamp set (New Day Butterflies - Hero Arts) that I received for Christmas along with some new designer paper (Park Lane) that I also received for Christmas.

I started with a Basic Black card base then added a large piece of the butterfly dp. Next I used Blushing Bride cs and distressed the edges with Melon Mambo ink (SU) I added another strip of the dp and stamped the butterfly and sentiment with Memento Tuxedo black ink.  The butterfly was colored with colored pencils twice, one was cut out and layered on top of the other one. I used a lacy metal die and a circle die.  I also used a corner rounder punch on the black piece of card stock.

I used Amuse Studio butterfly dies for the smaller two butterflies. One was textured with an embossing folder.  Card Stock colors were: Barely Banana, Pink Passion (which I believe are both retired SU colors).

This card was based off of another card I did way back in 2012.  You can find that card HERE

That's it for this card.  As always if you have questions about any card I've posted feel free to e-mail me. - Happy Stamping!

#TGIFC297 Color Challenge

 Hello & Welcome!

So today is my first posting of 2021 for a card challenge.

I'm joining the TGIFC#297 challenge.

Here is what I created for this challenge.

Details:  Card Base - Basic Black (SU) Flower Dies (unknown as they were a gift and did not have a company listed) Flowers were die cut with Whisper White (SU) cs.  The largest flower was embossed with the Swiss Dot Embossing Folder.  I used a 2 small SU cirle punches one for the center of the dotted flower and one for the center of the flower in the upper right flower.
Also used Paisley print designer paper (Doodlebug designs) that I've had in my stash forever.  A White brad and the sentiment is also from a new stamp set (Hero Greetings) from Hero Arts that I also received as a Christmas gift.  I popped the sentiment up with foam mounting tape.

A simple but fun little card to create.

Hope you have enjoyed your visit and Happy Stamping!
