Woodblock Wednesday - Crooning Cow

Hello and Welcome.

A couple of days ago I happened to stumble on a post about,  Woodblock Wednesday and thought that sounded like a lot of fun.  I have tons (and I do mean tons) of Woodblock stamps.  Most sit in drawers or boxes just gathering dust (how sad) so what better way to give them some love then join in on this fun event.

Here is the card that I created: Click to Enlarge images.

The object being of course to use a, Wood Block stamp as your focal point. - I chose Crooning Cow (Whipper Snapper Designs, Inc.) for my card.  It's an oldie as the date is, 2006 on the stamp.

I started by pairing the cow stamp with some fun designer paper from Unity Stamp company, (Barn Yard Blowout).  The card base is White. I distressed the edges of the designer paper with a retired SU distressing tool.  The image was stamped with Versa Fine Clair Nocturne ink and colored with Prisma Colored Pencils which I blended with stumps and Gamsol.  I also used a piece of Crumb Cake card stock SU and distressed the edges both with Crumb Cake ink and the distressing tool.  I mounted the focal image with foam tape.

The sentiment is from Unity Stamps. - I didn't have any actual wood mount sentiments that I thought fit my image and since Unity stamps are Red Rubber and you use an acrylic block with them I figured that's about as close to Wood Block as you can get without the actual wood.

Embellishments include: Hearts punched from the designer paper using an old retired SU heart punch, staples, photo corner punch from EK Success and some small black pearls. Some Wink of Stella was added to the hearts for a bit of shimmer.  I also used a Fishtail Punch from MFT (which I believe is also retired).

I hope to participate in this again next month.  It was so fun seeing an old stamp brought back to life again.

Unity Stamps Color Challenge - Hedgie Hello

Hi,  Thanks for stopping by. - I appreciate your visit and comments.  If I don't reply to you personally it's because I can't figure out how to due to some issue with blogger.  Unless I know your personal e-mail address I can't reply back.

Anyway here is the May Color Challenge for Unity Stamps:

Here is the card that I created for the challenge:

Click to enlarge photo for details. - Below is a close-up of the flower bouquet so you can see the shimmer it has.

For this card I started with some designer paper that came in a Spellbinders Kit that a friend had given me.  - It had all the colors of the challenge and I liked how the flowers mimicked the bouquet that the Hedgehog is holding.

Stamp set: Unity Stamps - Hedgie Hello
Ink: Versafine Clair
Other: Water Color Paints. -Artistro , I received these as a Christmas gift and am trying to learn how to water color.  This was my first time using them.  It's not perfect but I think it turned out pretty good.

I also watered colored in the background around the Hedgehog.  Some splatters of (Pool Party ink - SU) were done using an ink pad, water spray and a toothbrush.  The Cloud is from another Unity set, Sending Smiles.  The little hearts were stamped with Melon Mambo (SU) ink and I added a couple of hot pink pearls.  Unity Die was used to cut out the hedgehog image.  Card Base is Night of Navy and border around the focal image in, Gorgeous Grape (SU).  I also added a watercolor border around the cloud and some more splatters.

I hope you have enjoyed my take on this color challenge.

Let's Celebrate Birthdays

Well it's been awhile since I've posted...life has been busy.

Today I'm sharing a couple of birthday cards that I have made.

First card I made way back in February for a dear friend and then forgot to post the card.  At least I'd didn't forget to send it to her!

For this card I used the adorable mouse stamp from Unity Stamps, (Tiny Tutu Soiree) Card Stock used, Gorgeous Grape and Basic White (SU). Inks used: Gorgeous Grape, Bermuda Bay*retired ) and Pretty in Pink (SU).  The mouse was stamped with Memento Tuxedo ink and colored with colored pencils and cut out with a Unity circle die. I also edged it with some Pretty in Pink ink.  For the background on the mouse and the portion with the cupcakes I used inks dipped on a piece of acetate and spritzed with water giving it a water color feel.  After it dried I stamped the little cupcake image in the various colors.  I added some glitter to the tutu and some tiny pink/blue pearls.

Next up is the card that I made for my hubby's birthday (which is today).

For this card I started with a piece of Night of Navy card stock (SU)
A piece of old designer paper (BoBunny).  I stamped the image (One of the Good Ones - Unity) with Memento Tuxedo ink and colored it with Pencils.  Then I stamped the background with Memento London Fog ink.  That image is from Stampers Anonymous  (Slight Alterations CMS 060)  I stamped the sentiment with Memento Tuxedo and mounted it with Foam Tape.  I used a piece of the designer paper to punch a heart and some Night of Navy for the smaller hearts.  Then I stapled them together.  The larger one was mounted with foam tape.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing these cards.  Have a great day.

She Monsters - Unity Sketch Challenge

Hello - Well it's been a 'hot minute' since I've posted here.  Lots going on the last month and then I ended up with that crummy cold/chest congestion, cough crud.  Haven't felt much like stamping but today I managed to finally get a card done.

This is for the Unity Sketch Challenge: Layered Layout:

Here is what I came up with:

This is my first time using the adorable, She Monsters stamp set & the Love Notes Designer paper so I'm going to also enter on NBUS #84 challenge as well.

So my card base is Retired SU Bermuda Bay card stock.
I used 4 patterns from Unity's - Love Notes paper pack.
The monster was stamped with Versa Fine Clair Nocturne ink and colored with pencils/blended with Gamsol.
I used a square die from SU, a small corner punch from EK Success.

The image was mounted with foam tape as well as the small circle that I punched from one of the other paper patterns in the package & added some pink glitter from Art Institute. - The center of the flower has Baby Blue Stickles added to it. I also used some, googly  eyes and an enamel dot (Paper Studio) to complete the card.

This was a fun card to make & I hope it makes you smile.
Thanks for stopping by.

Twinkleheart - Tear it and Tone it Challenge

Hi, Here today with a card I'm entering for the Unity Show & Tell , Tear and Tone it Challenge.

For this card I used the Unity Stamp Set (Twinkleheart).
My card base: Azure Afternoon.
Inks used: Azure Afternoon & Balmy Blue
Dies: Unity Stamps.
Patterned Paper from Paper Studio
Embossing Folder, Swiss Dot
Glitter: Nirvana from Art Institute
Pearls: Queen & Company

Image Stamped with Azure Afternoon Ink, Wings colored with a Prisma Colored Pencil and Wink of Stella was added to them.
Swiss Dot Embossing folder was brayered with both Azure Afternoon and Balmy Blue ink pads. Then I tore it and added a piece of designer paper between the torn portions and cut it out with a Rectangle Die.
Sentiment was stamped with the Azure Afternoon and the separate star image with Balmy Blue ink.
Glitter was added to the stamped image and sentiment.  It really sparkles/shimmers in real life.

This was a fun challenge to participate in.

Paper Players 773 - Balloons and Birthdays and NBUS #83

I love it when I can participate in a few challenges.  This card is going into the Paper Players PP773 - Balloons and Birthdays challenge.

Since I'm also using brand new products I'll be posting over on the NBUS #83 challenge as well.

Here is my card:

Don't you just love how hilarious that chicken is!
For this card I used the, Still Peckin' Fabulous stamp set from Unity Stamp Company.  - It features 2 super funny chickens (with balloons) and several fun sentiments.

I stamped the image on white card stock and colored with Prisma Colored Pencils.  After coloring the image I created a mask and then  used a cloud/grass stencil (All Night Media) that I've had for years to create a little scene around the image.  I also added Diamond Glaze to the balloon.  I used a piece of colorful polka dot paper (source not known) and layered it on a piece of Granny Apple Green cs and cut it out with a Unity Scallop/Rectangle die.  I ran part of it through a Chicken Wire embossing folder as well.  Photo corners were added (punch is ek success). Enamel dots were added as well.  The sentiment is from the stamp set. Image and sentiment were mounted with foam tape. I also added 2 black pearls to the center of the eyes. Glitter was added to the hat and candles.

Card stock colors: Bermuda Bay (I miss that one a lot), Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight, Basic White and Basic Black (SU).

Close-ups of some of the details:

You can see that the patterned paper has some indented portions that have shimmer to them.

Card has been sent to the recipient,  I hope he gets a kick out of it.

Butterfly Delight.

Hi! - Thanks for stopping by.

Today I'm sharing a couple of cards that I made using something other than rubber stamps.

Card 1:  This is a birthday card that I recently sent to a friend:

There was very little actual stamping on this card. -  The main focal image is actually a rub-on transfer from 49 & Market (which I just saw is no longer available).  Stamps used: Retired SU Background stamp & sentiment stamp from Amuse Studio. Butterfly Punch also from Amuse Studio.  Dies (Unity Stamps) Pearls from Queen and Company.

Card 2:  This was made last year for the Splitcoast Stampers Dirty Dozen Fan Club: - The theme was Social Butterfly.

Feel free to message me if you need details on how these cards were made.

Wing and a Prayer

Welcome & thanks for stopping by & leaving a comment. - Again if I don't reply to your comments it's an issue with blogger.  Try to leave a contact name/e-mail address in your reply if you want a personal reply back.

Up today is a card that I made for a friend who recently had surgery and is recovering from it.

For this card I used the Unity Stamps (Wing and a Prayer) stamp set and paper from Unity (A little tenderness) pattern.

Card Base: Early Espresso, Next I used a piece of the patterned pape that I distressed the edges with ink.

I stamped the bird on white cs and colored with Prisma Pencils and blended with stubs/gamsol. It was cut out with a Unity Circle die.

The hearts are from a die collection that was given to me as a gift so I do not know the company/source of where they came from. One was cut from a retired SU card stock and the other from the patterned paper pack.  I used staples to mount them to each other.

The sentiment was stamped with Early Espresso ink on Petal Pink cs and distressed.  I added some chocolate brown pearls to complete the card. - Image was mounted with foam tape.

I hope you have enjoyed this card.  Have a great day & Happy Stamping/Crafting!

Inspired by...Winter Knits

 Hello & Welcome.

I'm excited today to share my first card of 2026.  I chose the Inspired by Winter Knits challenge for this card.

I decided to go for the colors and the textures for my card from the Inspiration photo. - There is also a sketch you can follow.

Here is my card:

So for this card I used, Frosty & Feisty (pissy kitty).  I wanted to use this particular piece of patterned paper (which took me forever to find in my paper stash). I've had it forever.  It was called, Alpine Stash from KI.

My card base is Night of Navy then I used a Unity rectangle/scallop die to cut the patterned paper out.  You can see in the photo but it has a slight shimmer/sheen to it.  I then used a piece of Close to Cocoa (retired SU) card stock and embossed it with a Herringbone folder and cut a strip of.  I layered that to the patterned piece.

The kitty was stamped with Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored with pencils that I blended with Gamsol.  I added some white splatters and layered that on a piece of Early Espresso cs. - Unity and MFT circle dies were used.  The piece was mounted with foam tape.

The sentiment was stamped with Night of Navy ink.  - To finish the card I added some light blue gems.

Hoping to get back into stamping more as the year progresses. Thanks for stopping by.
