Paper Players CAS One Layer Challenge #596 and NBUS#39

Before I get to today's card I wanted to share that I made the "Cut Above" for my card featured HERE for challenge #594.  It's always a fun surprise when you receive good news like that.Badge of Honor

Now on to this weeks, Clean and Simple challenge.  Something that is totally out of my comfort zone. - Clean and Simple is hard for me to start out with but combine it with a, One Layer card and yep, I'm a little intimidated.

I decided to give it a try though. I'll also be posting this as an NBUS#39 card since the stamp set I used is brand new and this was it's first use along with the Distress inks that I used.

Here is my card:

Card base: White Card Stock - This was a thicker card stock that I believe I purchased from Papertrey Ink many years ago.

I used a stencil from Tim Holtz Halloween set and sponged on,Spiced Marigold, Mustard Seed and Crushed Olive Inks.  Next I stamped the drink stamp (Unity - Itty Bitty - Chillin) with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with colored pencils blended with gamsol.  I stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink and embossed with Basic Black embossing powder to complete the card.

So how did I do?  I'm still not sure that this is a style I'll grow to love but at least I gave it a try.

  3. You did great, Ida! You should be proud considering this isn't your normal go-to style and I hope you will add CAS OLC to your style rotation in the future. I love the whole design, colors, and sediment! It's perfect for the current heatwave that's descended over most of the nation. Thank you for inspiring everyone at NBUS and congrats on the recognition! Hugs, Darnell

  6. I think this is VERY cool. I am so impressed with that stencil; when I first saw the card, I scratched my head and wondered how you did it! Now I know! Love the glass of lemonade (now I want some), and the black sentiment looks perfect and ties everything together. Thanks for sharing this with us at the Players this week!

  9. Congrats! You conquered your fears and came out with a terrific card, Ida. I almost thought the stenciling was ink smooshing, the stencil is very intriguing.

  11. I think it looks absolutely fantastic, Ida! CAS can be hard enough let alone as a one layer card. The heavier cardstock is perfect for it. Love the stamp and stencil combo. You did an amazing job on this. Congrats on your Cut Above honor, too!
