Paper Players Challenge #550 - Bees

Hello everyone.  My card today is being entered for this weeks Paper Players Challenge #550

At first I wasn't sure that I would be able to participate since I could only find 1 stamp set with a (Bee) in it in my stash.

Then I thought why not check in the stuff my mom had and "bingo" I found several that fit the challenge.

Below is what I picked out and created with:

The little Bee trio is a very old (2007 - Stampendous) stamp called, Bee Trio.  My mom loved things that she considered to be cute and these little bees certainly fit that.  The sentiment stamp is even older as the date is 1997 on it.  Also a Stampendous stamp and was one of mine that she borrowed and never returned.

So once I had the 2 stamps I then decided what I wanted to do with them.  I knew I wanted some sore of a "beehive" type pattern somewhere on the card but alas I had no beehive stamps or embossing folders.

My brain got creative when I spotted a piece of bubble wrap laying on my desk.  Yes, that hive was created by stamping an ink pad down on the bubble wrap and then pressing the inked side onto some white card stock and voila~ the beehive was accomplished.

I colored the bee image with various Prismacolor pencils blended with Gamsol, masked them and added a faint blue shadow around them.

For my CAS design I only layered just the bees with foam mounting tape and put them at an angle to add some extra pizzazz to the card.

The wings have glitter added to them and the red antenna has a slight sparkle from a Spica Glitter pen.

Card Stock: Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black and Daffodil Delight (SU)

I was super happy with how this turned out.  - Have a great day and as the card says,  Bee Happy!

  1. Oh Ida, how clever and creative you are, using bubble wrap to create your honeycomb! I have heard of that but have never done it!! Look how awesome it looks, too! And your cutesy bees are adorable...the sentiment works perfectly! Mom to the rescue--at least a wee bit! Thanks for playing with my CAS bee challenge this week!

  4. Adorable! Those 3 bees are certainly cute and you've colored them wonderfully! And that bubble wrap background is so cool. As soon as I saw it I thought "how cool that there is a bubble wrap background stamp!" then reading your post and seeing that it was actual bubble wrap is even better because I have a bunch that I can use to CASE your idea! Thanks for sharing at The Paper Players!

  11. Love, love, love it! The bees are so cute! 2007 does not sound so very long ago to me, but when I really think about it... The bubble wrap made the perfect honeycomb. So adorable!
