Hello & Welcome.
This week the Paper Players have a theme challenge: #552 Beside the Seaside.
I love the beach and though I haven't been in a several years I just had to play along with this challenge.
I'll also be entering this for the NBUS#29 challenge.
Stamp Set: Seas The Day (Hero Arts).
Card Stock: Gorgeous Grape, Bermuda Bay, Pool Party, Whisper White*-retired. SU
Designer Paper: Purchased at Hobby Lobby and used HERE last year on a non-traditional Christmas card.
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Bermuda Bay
Other: Various Copic Markers, Circle Dies, Glitter and foam tape.
I'm also sharing a "bonus" card today just because it's beach themed. This card was done with absolutely no stamping whatsoever.
Card Base is Crumb Cake, Small Punched Stars are More Mustard
The rest of the card was made using, Stickers! I've had them in my stash for years and thought they would make a fun card. The sticker set came with one long strip that I used for the left portion of the card. I also used some Mics Spray (Tim Holtz) to spritz on the stars and the right hand side of the card to look a bit like sand sparkling on the beach although it's hard to see it in the photo.
The sticker set also had several tag stickers so I picked one of them and looped some blue gingham ribbon through it and mounted it with foam tape. A quick, simple but fun little card.
Do any of you ever use items like stickers or ephemera to create cards instead of stamping? Do you think it's still creative? I always feel as if I'm "cheating" a little when I do that but I still like the cards.
That's it for today's cards. I hope you have enjoyed your visit.
I love both your summertime seaside designs, Ida! The scenes and colors are perfect! I know what you mean about feeling like cheating with no stamping or using stickers, although I hate that word cheating for it. Let's just call these cards easier and pat ourselves on the back for using our schtuff!! Thank you for sharing with everyone at NBUS! Hugs, DarnellReplyDelete
Both cards are fabulous. In the first I love the designer paper. It makes me think of mermaid scales. The second is gorgeous. I do use stickers occasionally.ReplyDelete
I love both of these, lean towards the one with the gulls, they make me smile and I like tht they stand out from the card. it is a special seaside card. good one to enterReplyDelete
OMGosh, your first card is so dang cute! I love those gulls and the fun, colorful paper. Your second card has a different feel and really so beautiful. I know what you mean about the feeling of cheating. However, when the parts are this pretty and you put them together just right... it takes skill, and that's not cheating at all!ReplyDelete
Oh my gosh, your first card is amazing but those stickers are FABULOUS! Cheating or not, it still created a stupendous card! I would be happy to receive that card any day of the week! Thanks for playing with our Paper Players challenge this week!ReplyDelete
Fantastic! Love these, Ida, both really have the feel of seaside/ocean. As for the products? We all need help now and then! Besides, you're the one puttin' it all together and making it fabulous!ReplyDelete
What a fun card! Those seagulls are charming and so cute in your little scene!ReplyDelete
Both of your cards are beautiful, but I can't resist those little ducks. A perfect way to celebrate the seaside. Great colors, too! Thank you for joining us at the Paper Players this week.ReplyDelete
Two fabulous cards Ida! I love the colours and mermaid-inspired paper to accompany your beachy gulls on your first card, but I think your second card is beautiful too - just because it's stickers, doesn't make it cheating when it's as pretty as this! Thanks for playing along with our seaside themed challenge over at The Paper Players this week!ReplyDelete
Both cards are fabulous! Love those little gull and that mermaid patterned paper. Thanks so much for joining us this week over at The Paper Players!ReplyDelete
I love the bonus card....and love the colors of the main card.ReplyDelete
