Paper Players Color Challenge #567

Hello & Welcome!

Today I'm joining in on the current Paper Players Color Challenge #567

Here is the color scheme: Grey, White, Black & Silver.  - A really neat combo.

I decided to make a Christmas card using these colors.  I know it seems weird for a holiday card but I assure you it works.  Be sure to check out the Design Teams cards as well as there are several Christmas/Winter themed cards using these colors. - It was hard to photograph this but the silver is shimmery.  I really miss this card stock that SU use to carry in both gold, silver and white.

For my card I started with a black card base.  Then I stamped the wood grain texture with Smoky Slate Ink.  Over that I stamped the Peaceful Wishes Greeting with Versamark ink and Bold Black embossing powder.

I added a strip of black, grey & silver designer paper a punched border of snowflakes in brushed silver card stock.  The I punched out my cardinal with brushed silver card stock, the poinsettia in black and white cs, the holly leaves in silver, the berries in white.  I glued the cardinal down on Basic White cs, added the poinsettia piece which I mounted with foam tape.  I also used some white/silver cording and a touch of glitter to the center of the flower.

Sentiment Stamp is from SU (Peaceful Wishes)*retired.

Bird and Poinsettia Dies are from Momenta

  1. Ida this is beautiful! The woodgrain background and that wonderful strip of sparkly, striped paper, twine and snowflake border add just the right amount of detail without detracting from your fabulous diecut bird. Thanks for playing along with my colour challenge over at The Paper Players this week!

  2. this is my most favorite combo of colors. I love black and white with pops of color and am a huge fan of monotones. your card is beatufiul and i don't remember ever seeing a greeting card in these colors. I looked at the others and some I like and some I don't but yours I love it

  3. That is very nice. The black white gray and silver have an elegant look that works for any occasion.

  4. I love the woodgrain background and the sweet snowflakes peeking out along the border. Great use of the colors and it definitely does work as a Christmas palette as you've proven! Thanks for sharing at The Paper Players!

  5. Beautiful! Very peaceful and calm, Ida!

  6. Wow, you did an amazing job with these colors! I love them for Christmas, just as in the last few years I fell in love with black/gold/white combo for Christmas. Cool dies and the wood grain stamp fooled me. I thought it was designer paper. It's great! Beautiful card, Ida!

  7. This is gorgeous and I recognized that sentiment right away! I need to get that out and use it, it's so pretty! Love all your elements together! Such a pretty Christmas card! Thanks for playing with the Players this week!

  8. Beautiful, Ida! The woodgrain paper is the perfect backdrop for the gorgeous focal point. There are so many wonderful details from twine to snowflakes to the amazing die cut bird. Thank you for playing with The Paper Players this week!

  9. I agree, Ida...this is a tough color combo to photograph but it is truly beautiful in person. Your card is gorgeous! I love that sweet bird die and the mix of patterned papers is fantastic. Thank you so much for joining us this week over at The Paper Players!
