Color Throwdown #737

Hello and Welcome!

I've been in a creative mood (for a change) this week.

Today I'm sharing a card created for this weeks Color Throwdown #737.

Here is the card I've created for this challenge:

When I started thinking of what to do for the colors I thought about not having any designer paper with those colors in the pattern.  That was until I discovered a piece of patterned paper in my stash that I bought last year.  It was from Basic Grey (sugared collection/beloved).  The pattern was mainly pink flamingos but dispersed in random places were some adorable giraffes. I decided to base my card solely on the use of the patterned paper.  I had seen a card on the Paper Players blog by Ann Schach where she used a piece of patterned paper as the focal point and just added a sentiment to complete the card.

So for the details on this card:

Card Base - Mossy Meadow, Pink layer (retired SU Pretty in Pink)Designer Paper (Basic Grey).  Dies from Momemnta (leaf, flower) Circle Die (Nestabilities) Dotted Circle (SU Stylish Dies)

Ink Pad - SU Really Rust (retired)

Paper Players Color Challenge #545

 Hello & welcome!

Joining in today with the Paper Players for a color challenge

#PP545

Here is the card I created for the challenge.  I just had to use my flamingo again for this challenge.  (getting good use out of those dies and stamps)!

For this one I used the Bermuda Bay for the card base, layered with a piece of Granny Apple Green (my new favorite SU color) and a layer of retired Whisper White.  I used a small band of Basic Black card stock and a small strip of designer paper (Bella Blvd).

I stamped the flamingo from SU's (Friendly Flamingo) stamp set with Melon Mambo Ink and used the flamingo die (Flamingo Dies) to cut it out.  I stamped the leaves ink Granny Apple Green ink and die cut them as well.  The small flowers were also stamped in Melon Mambo on white cs and die cut with a flower die from the set.  The circle die is a Nestability die.  I stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo black ink.  I added green gems to the flowers and two small pink pearls by the sentiment.  The flamingo was raised up with foam mounting tape.

That's is for this challenge but I loved those colors together and hope you do as well.

Freshly Made Sketches #473

Hello & Welcome.  - I've been absent for a couple of weeks from stamping because I had a bout of "winter blahs" and just didn't feel inspired to stamp at all.

Today I finally got out of the house and was able to drive around town without fear of ice/snow making it hard for me to drive.  - I was inspired to get out my stamps and create again.  Hooray!

Below is the card I created using this sketch.

Card Stock:  Basic Black, Whisper White, Flirty Flamingo & Blushing Bride.

Designer Paper: Echo Park - Flamingos (Item#BS182004)

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black and Flirty Flamingo

Stamp Set:  Friendly Flamingo
Flamingo Dies - Both SU products.

Other: Basic Black Marker & White Gel Pen (to color beak)
Foam Mounting Tape
Blender Pen - I colored the accent on the wing with a blender pen & the Flirty Flamingo ink pad.

Come back soon as I have another card to share for a different challenge. - Have a great day & stay safe and warm if you are still in the "deep freeze" zones.

Fun with Flamingos

Welcome. Hope you have all had a good week.  I've had the chance to do a little stamping this week which is always nice.

In my previous post I posted this card featuring a new stamp set that I purchased recently. Today I am sharing 2 more cards that I created using the same stamp set.

I have a FB/ photography friend who's wife loved flamingos and after she passed away he would insert a small flamingo into his photos as a way of honoring and remembering her.  So I decided to send him a photo of this card and he loved it.  After some chatting about making/selling cards I told him I would just make one and send it to him.

Well the card maker in me just couldn't stop with one card so I sent him three.

Here are the other two cards:

For this card I used: Shaded Spruce, Bermuda Bay and Whisper White card stock.  Inks: Calypso Coral, Mint Macaron, Shaded Spruce, and Memento Tuxedo Black.
I stamped the palm leaves randomly on the white card stock and used my new, Stitched Whimsy die to create a fun border. Then I distressed the edges with the mint ink.  The flamingo and larger flower were stamped with the Coral ink and fussy cut. I also edged the larger flower with the coral ink.  On the Bermuda Bay piece I used a Versa Mark pad and a retired background stamp (SU-Sanded)
The sentiment was stamped with the Tuxedo black ink.  I mounted the flamingo with foam tape an added a tiny black bead for the eye.

For this card I used Melon Mambo, Basic Black card stock.
Ink: Melon Mambo, Shaded Spruce and another pink ink along with the Tuxedo Black ink.

The patterned paper is from the Place and Time summer pack (JoAnns). I used a water brush to pick up colors of ink to paint onto the small flower image and a basic black marker for the flamingo's beak.  I used a retired SU corner punch to create the tag and small circle punches for the flowers. I also used a piece of Washi tape (Park Lane) and the Palm Branch Sizzix embossing folder on the black card stock - Enlarge to see detail.

I had fun with these cards and plan to use the Pineapple stamp that came in the set really soon to share with everyone.

Have a great day & Happy Stamping.
