Paper Players #736 (Something Old, Something New), Freshly Made Sketches#685 & A Challenge with a Friend

 Hi,  Welcome to my blog.

So today I'm combining a challenge that I'm doing with a friend,  TK from Time4Kards along with this weeks Paper Players #736 challenge:
Something Old, Something New. and Freshly Made Sketches#685

My good friend, Terri (aka TK) and I met awhile back for a visit and coffee together.  She brought a long an envelope filled with stamped images and sentiments that she said we could use to do one of our challenges together.  We each used the same image for our cards.

Since the Image is new to me and also the die-cut that I chose to use and I'm using very old card stock and a patterned piece of paper that I've had in my stash for a couple of years now I thought this card would work great for the Paper Players challenge.

So without further ado here is my card:  Click to enlarge cards.

Here's another view of the card:

For this card I started with the patterned paper as my inspiration point along with this weeks Freshly Made Sketch #685.  I bought the designer paper at Hobby Lobby several years ago and have never used it.  Then I decided to use this image from the ones TK gave me.  It's from Penny Black (Blooms) and comes with a matching die although for this image I didn't have the die so I fussy cut my image.  I colored it with a mixture of Colored Pencils and Copic Markers.  I used 3 color pencils, Celadon Green and Powder Blue and Metallic Gold. The marker I used was, Powder Blue as well.  I added Wink of Stella, Gold Glitter and Tarnished Brass Mica Spray to the flowers and the Embossed Background and Sentiment Die Cut.

I used retired SU card stock colors, Sage Shadow and I believe, Bliss Blue.  Both have been long retired so that is my something old along with the patterned paper.

Other items used: Fishtail Die (MFT) Swiss Dot Embossing Folder, Hello Die (Unity Stamps), Rectangle Die (Unity Stamps) Small baby blue pearls and foam mounting tape.

This card has tons of shimmer on it.  Hard to see in the photos but this is a closeup of part of the card:

You can see some of the shimmer from the Mica Spray, the Gold patterned paper and the pearls.

Be sure to stop by TK's blog - Time 4 Kards and check out how she used that stamp.

Growing in Unity - Day 5

Welcome!  This week has went by quickly. - We are on my final day as a GIU (Growing in Unity) featured stamper.

So let's get started on today's card.

This card features the Unity stamp set,  Funny Farm.  This set is fun and great for those cards when you really don't feel the need or desire to do a lot of coloring.

The card base is, Real Red cs (SU) which I layered a panel of Daffodil Delight cs (SU) that had been embossed with a Chicken Wire embossing folder, (Cuttlebug). This particular one is retired but there are other chicken wire embossing folders out there. Plus if you'd rather use a stamp Unity has a couple of chicken wire background stamps. - I layered a piece of designer paper from Unity (Country Lovin') over the chicken wire card stock.  Next up I stamped the animal image on Crumb Cake cs with Real Red ink and used a blender brush and Crumb cake ink to distress the edges.  I cut the image out with Unity's (Scallops and Rectangles) dies. I glued the panel down and added enamel dots (Paper Studio).  The sentiment was stamped with Memento Tuxedo black in on Basic White cs and cut with an SU Stylish Die then mounted with foam tape to complete the card.

Since it's my final day and I already had the stamps and papers out I decided to create a second card with the same stamp set.

For this card I went with Crumb Cake as the card base.  Then I embossed a panel of Real Red cs with the chicken wire embossing folder and glued it over the top of the patterned paper and glued that panel down.  Next I stamped the animal image in Memento Tuxedo black ink on Daffodil delight cs and smudged on some Daffodil Delight ink.  I added just red enamel dots this time.  The sentiment was stamped with the Memento ink and distressed with a distressing tool and the ink pad.  Both the sentiment and the image panel were popped up with foam tape.

So that's the end of my time as the featured GIU stamper.  I've really enjoyed your visits and comments and had a blast creating my cards.

Don't forget to leave a comment for you chance at a $20 Unity store credit.  Winners will be drawn on Monday and posted to my blog and also on the Unity Facebook Page.

Growing in Unity - Day 3

Howdy! - Hope you are having as much fun this week as I have been having.

Today is Day 3 of my Growing in Unity week and I have a fun card for you today.

If you have visited my blog before you may have seen this card already. Click to enlarge:  You can view that post HERE.

But guess what?  I just couldn't resist making another card with that stinkin' cute mouse!  This set is Tiny Buckaroo.

This time I did not fussy cut the image out.  Instead I stamped it on white card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Prismacolor pencils and blended with Gamsol.
Then I used a blender brush to distress the edges with blue ink and I added some black splatter using a Lustre brush.  Next I created a tag with some background paper , (Barnyard Blowout) from Unity. The sentiment was also stamped on a piece of the paper pack and cut out with a circle die from SU (Stylish Dies) I used some twine to wrap around the tag, a old retired SU star brad, and a couple of different star punches.  The tag portion was mounted on the card with foam tape.
Card stock colors, Real Red, Night of Navy and Basic White. (SU). Remember you can use any of these colors from whatever company you like.

Don't forget to leave a comment because at the end of the week I will be drawing 2 names from all comments through out the week for a chance at a $20 credit with the Unity store.

Be sure to come back tomorrow for another fun card creation.

Hello Friend

Welcome! Today's card started out to be a card I made for the Paper Players Color Challenge #653  - It never made it into the challenge since my computer was acting up that day and by the time I got the card edited it was to late to enter (bummer).

I wanted to share the card anyway so here is the card that I made:

I started out by stamping the pumpkin/flower image (Unity - August KOM - Phases) in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Prisma Colored Pencils blended with Gamsol.

I cut the image out with a circle die from SU (Stylish) Dies. I added a circle of Melon Mambo (closest I had to Sweet Sorbet) with a Nestabilitie circle Die.  I offset the two circles.

The card base is, Blackberry Bliss. - I then embossed a layer of Calypso Coral with a Pumpkin Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug - Provo Craft ) I added a Fishtail piece of Daffodil Delight and the sentiment was from (Unity - February 2023 KOM - Happy Soul).

Some colored gems were added to 3 of the flowers on the pumpkin to complete the card.

Before I go I wanted to share that my card for PP655 Sketch Challenge was chosen as the "Headliner" for that week.  What a fun surprise that was.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the week.

Color Throwdown #758

 Hello and Welcome.

Last week I decided to do separate cards for the 3 challenges I try to participate in.

This card is for the Color Throwdown #758

Below is the card that I came up with for the challenge.

I had a hard time with this color combo for some reason.  Plus this shot makes the white look a bit yellowish.  It's hard to photograph sometimes with the lighting in our house. Plus I'm using a new editing program that I'm not totally familiar with.

Anyway...Card Details:
Card Base - Berry Burst. Punched Border is Bubble Bath  and Garden Green (SU)
Basic White and a piece of very old designer paper (source unknown) from my stash.

Image colored with Pencils.  I used an old SU stamp set, (Sassy Stems - retired).  The sentiment is from an old Hero Arts set, (Stencil Prints) I also used the retired SU Itty Bitty Backgrounds and some Bubble Bath ink to stamp around the main flower image.

Memento Tuxedo Black ink was used for the image/sentiment.
Punch is from Martha Stewart.
I added some Magenta pearls to the flowers - Source unknown.

That's it for this weeks Throwdown. - Don't forget to stop in and check out the Design Teams cards & participants.  Lots of great inspiration.

Freshly Made Sketch #469 - Hello There

I finally had a chance to play today with my new stamps set, Sweet Strawberry.

I started with the latest Freshly Made Sketch challenge #469

Below is the card I made using this sketch.

Stamp set: Sweet Strawberry
Designer Paper: Berry Delightful
Card Stock: Pacific Point, Shaded Spruce & Whisper White
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Real Red, Garden Green, Memento Tuxedo Black.
Other: Strawberry Punch
The punch and stamp set are part of the Sweet Strawberry bundle in the new mini catalog (SU) and the designer paper is from the current Sale-a-bration catalog.

I love this new stamp set and paper.  I picked strawberries for 8 summers as a kid so this was the perfect stamp set for me.  I love summer and strawberries, can't wait till June when we get fresh local berries once again.

BC222 In The Good Ole Summertime

Happy Friday and Welcome to the Blogger Challenge. This weeks theme: Summertime! Now while I know some of you have actually been having Summer here in the Pacific Northwest we've had a very cool/mild summer. I don't think it's gotten past 90 more then 1 or 2 days all summer so far. Which is unusual for our area. Alas you didn't come here to listen to me talk about the weather so let's get down to business.

Today my card will cover not 1, not 2 but 3 different challenges! - I'm excited that I've actually done all 3 challenges with one card. Are you ready....Get out your sunglasses as your going to need them.

I had to go through my mom's stash of stamps to find something with a summer theme as I just didn't seem to have anything fitting the bill in my stamp collection (Hard to belive isn't it). Plus I also wanted something that would work with this weeks Color Throwdown challenge:
Rainbow Colors!
This lends itself to a lot of bright, fun colors and patterns. It was so much fun using this long retired stamp set and bringing it back to life again in such a fun way.
I used the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge for my card.
Card Details: Stamps: Penguin Paradise-retired SU
Sentiment Stamp: Hero Arts
Card Stock: Tangerine Tango, Marigold Morning, Bermuda Bay, Real Red-SU
Sugar (Which is the White piece) from A.Muse|Studio.
Designer Paper: We R Memory Keepers
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black & Various Copic Markers
Swiss Dot Embossing Folder
Punches: Photo Corner and Wave-EK Success
Brads: Pink Hedgehog Crafts

So now it's your turn to give this challenge a try and show us your Summer Creations by linking below:

BC157 - A Turtle Hello

Sorry but no Annabelle Challenge Card for me this week.  Have been super busy working on the release cards, taking my granddaughter to swimming lessons, yard work, house work and a bout with a very sore hand/arm for a couple of days.  Be sure though to check out the Annabelle DT members blogs as they did Easel cards this week.
It's Friday and time for the Blogger Challenge.            This week we had a Color Challenge: Kiwi, Blue and White.  (Love these colors together).  Boy was I scrambling to find a piece of scrap Kiwi Kiss so I could make a card.  That was one of my all time favorite SU colors and sadly they retired it and didn't bring it back.
For this card I used Anna Wight's - Beautiful Day from Whipper Snapper Designs. I've been dying to ink up that adorable Turtle and this color challenge seemed like the perfect time to do so.  I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored my happy little turtle with Prisma Colored Pencils blended with Gamsol.  I cut him out using Petite Oval Nesties and mounted him on Brilliant Blue Card Stock.  I paper pieced the hat band, raised up the bow tie with dimensional tape and added Waterfall Blue stickles to the heart flower.
Card Background: Brilliant Blue, layered with Whisper White, and Kiwi Kiss (embossed with Tiny Bubbles Cuttlebug embossing folder.  I layered a piece of DP from Doodlebug Design - Seabreeze Dotted Line.  I also added a punched border (MS Optic Dot punch) of Tempting Turquoise.  I tied a piece of White Grosgrain Ribbon, Added a Turquoise Prima Flower and punched circles of Kiwi and Tempting Turquoise cs and a Olive Sprinkle (Annabelle Stamps).  The sentiment was stamped with Night of Navy ink.  Image and Sentiment and Kiwi Panel were all raised with Dimensional Tape.  I added Brilliant Blue photo corners (EK Success punch) to complete my fun little card.
