Welcome. Before I get started with today's card I just want to say how excited I was that my card for the PP#561 Spooky Challenge made the (Cut Above) for last weeks challenge. Thank you so much.
This weeks challenge is a color challenge: (#562)
Such pretty colors. Since I don't have Pale Papaya I went with the closest color I could get to match it. For my 4th color I chose a yellow (Daffodil Delight) as it was one of the colors in the Designer Paper that I chose to use.
My card is also based off the same sketch from Freshly Made Sketches (#506) from last week.
I needed a Sympathy card for a fellow bowling team member who lost her husband last week. These type of cards are never easy to make but sadly they sooner or later are a necessity.
Here is the card that I came up with:
I remembered that I had this piece of fall leaf paper in my stash and it seemed to have all the colors of the challenge in it so I based my card around that paper.
Card Base: Early Espresso
Layered with a soft peach/papaya color that is actually the back of a piece of Coredinations card stock.
The Designer Paper is old and says it was from Gussie's on the back of it.
I used circle and scallop dies and stamped my leaf (PSX - Personal Stamp Exchange) with Pumpkin Pie Ink on the light colored card stock and mounted it on a pie of Pumpkin Pie. My strips of paper were: Early Espresso, Coordinations piece & Daffodil Delight.
The sentiment on the outside and the inside of the card are from Stamp Simply - Sympathy Sentiments Set 1 - Awhile back I won 3 of their sympathy sets and am finally putting them to good use.
Here is the inside of the card:
The leaf is the solid version of the one I used on the outside of the card. Inks used were: Early Espresso & Pumpkin Pie.
That's it for this card. Be sure to check out the Design Teams cards & the other participants as well.
Is a beautiful card and I love the inside as much as the outside
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. I needed two sympathy cards this past week and I had to buy them since that's a card I just never seem to make.
ReplyDeletePretty card, and I love that you found a pp to match the colors and use for a starting point. Yes, those dreaded cards are necessary in life...
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your honor too!
Such a lovely sympathy card! I am going to have to remember to bring out my leaf stamps next time I need one of those, as it works so well. Thanks for playing at The Paper Players!
