Paper Players Sketch Challenge-#510

Can you believe that September is almost over? - Time seems to be flying by so quickly. - Anyway I'm joining in again today with,
The Paper Players for their Sketch Challenge #510

Here is the sketch:

Here is my card:

I've been having a lot of fun creating Halloween cards this year.  It's one of my favorite holidays (Christmas being the other) to create cards for.

So for this card I started with a Basic Black (SU) card base, layerd on a piece of designer paper Eerie Paper Pad (Basic Gray) - Yes all those patterns are on one piece of paper.
Next I punched out another piece of the designer paper with a fishtail die and a small strip that was layered over the drippy goo portion.

I used my drippy blood/goo punch (Martha Stewart) and punched out a piece of Old Olive (SU) card stock.  I distressed the edges with my fingernail and also an Old Olive ink pad.

The stamp is book of spells stamp is from Inkadinkado and the Haunted Sentiment is from Studio G.  I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored it first with chalks but then decided it wasn't dark enough so I sent over it with colored pencils.  The edges were also distressed with ink and my fingernail and mounted with foam tape.

Hope you have enjoyed this card.

Two for no challenges

 Hello everyone.
Today I'm sharing 2 cards that I created this week with no particular challenge in mind.

Card #1

This card just seem to come together with little planning on my part.  I had picked up one of my old leaf stamps and a Kaleidacolor ink pad along with a piece of folded card stock that was laying on my desk.

I stamped the leaves with the Kaleidacolor pad on the right hand corner and from there everything else just went right in place.  I found a piece of fall designer paper that matched the colors and cut a fishtail strip of it and added a plain fishtail strip as well.  The Orange circle was already punched out from another project I had started but didn't finish so I just stamped the sentiment on it and mounted it to the card and added some sequins to finish it off.

Card Stock: More Mustard, Cajun Craze & Pumpkin Pie (SU)
Ink : Memento Tuxedo Black,  Kaleidacolor Autumn Leaves
Fishtail Dies (MFT) Circle Punch (Marvy)
Stamps: Leaves (Rubber Stampede) Sentiment (Hero Arts)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Card #2

This card was created because my Granddaughter wanted to color with me.  She was coloring in a book and I was stamping and coloring.
I had an old piece of SU Designer paper and based my colors off of it.
Stamps used: Witch from Greeting Card Kids (SU) and Sentiment from Essential Sentiments (Amuse Studio)
Card Stock: Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and I'm not sure what SU color the purple is.
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Prisma Color Pencils, Bold Black Embossing Powder (SU), Nestabilitie dies, Orange Gems, Scroll & Dots Punch EK Success.
Metallic/White twine.

Hope you have enjoyed seeing what I created.

Case this Sketch - God Bless You

Wow 2 posts from me in one day! - I just had to do the challenge for the Case this Sketch #390.

Since the challenge ends in a few hours I wanted to make sure my card got posted on time. Here is the sketch:

Here is my take on the sketch:

Details:  Card Stock: Old Olive & Whisper White.Textured Red from Chatterbox.

Designer Paper - Chatterbox - Scrapbook Walls which I have forever just waiting to be used.

Sentiment - SU Trust God stamp set

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black

Other Silhouette Stem die (Taylored Expressions)

Embossing Folder - Stampin'Up!

Brads - Source unknown.

Again a lot of my stamps & accessories I've had for a long time and am trying to use some of my stash up before buying new stuff.

Thanks for stopping by & I will try not to post 2 cards on the same day very often as I know it's hard to keep up with blog posts when they come so quickly.

Paper Players CAS 509 - Too Cute to Spook.

 Hello and Welcome!

Today I am sharing a card I made for the Paper Players Clean-and-Simple Challenge.  The focus was on: Pets.

Clean and Simple is really hard for me as I like to add lots of different layers/elements to my cards.  I started out with an idea and got frustrated so I put it away and decided not to do the challenge. (Does that ever happen to you?) - Then I was going through some cards that people have sent me and found a layout that I liked so I decided to try again.

Here is my card:

I had bought some really cute designer paper from DCWV - Pets and Pumpkins and wanted to make a Halloween card using it. I mounted the patterned paper on a small strip of Basic Black and layered it to an Old Olive card base.

I stamped the cat (Amuse Studio - Too Cute to Spook) with Versamark Ink and embossed it with Black Diamond embossing powder - Judi Kins on white card stock. I created the tag using an old SU Corner rounder punch.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and was stamped with Old Olive ink.

I tied some sparkly white/orange twine to the tag and mounted it on the card with foam tape. - Pretty easy and quick to do if you wanted to create a bunch of cards.

Mind you a lot of my stuff has probably been retired or companies have went out of business but I'm sure you could find similiar products elsewhere if you want to recreate this card idea.

Pumpkin Spice Squared

 Hello & Welcome!

Normally I don't stamp many square cards but I decided today to give it a try again.  I researched Square Card Sketches and found one that I thought would be fun to try.

It's an old sketch from My Favorite Things.

Next I had to get together all the stuff I wanted to use for my card.  I decided on a certain piece of background paper and based all my colors and accessories off of that.

 Here are the details.

Stamps: Pumpkin (Studio 112) Thankful Sentiment (Amuse Studio - Hey Foxy stamp set).

Card Stock Base and embossed Panel: Mint Macaron.  Large Circle and Smaller Circle: Garden Green, Whisper White.

Patterned Paper (Pumpkin Patch - DCWV)

Ink Pads: Memento Tuxedo Black, Pumpkin Pie (SU)

Other:  Pumpkin Harvest Embossing Folder - Provo Craft, Washi Tape, Fishtail dies, Circle Nestabilitie Dies. Orange Gems.

I layered the patterned paper down first.  Then the large Garden Green Circle.  On top of that I layered the embossed pumpkin piece.  Then the White Circle.  I fussy cut the pumpkin image and mounted it with foam tape.  I added 3 orange gems. I layered the Washi tape onto a piece of garden green cardstock and then cut it out using the fishtail die.  - The Thankful sentiment was stamped and cut out then layered onto the Garden Green circle.

I love patterned paper because it has a glossy look to some of the pieces.  See Below.

   So there you have it.

Freshly Made Sketches #453

 Hello everyone.

Time for another card. I liked the color scheme so much for this weeks Color Throwdown that I decided to create another card using those colors.

This time I picked the sketch for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge (#453)

For this card I used a stamp set from Amuse Studio called, Hey Foxy and the coordinating Dies that go with the set.  This is also another stamp set that I've had in my stash that had never been used before.

I stamped the Fox on Whisper White card stock and used the coordinating die to cut him out before coloring it with colored pencils. The leaves were stamped with Garden Green ink and colored with pencils.  The sentiment was stamping in Tuxedo Black ink.  I paper pierced the line under the sentiment.

On my card I decide to layer the smaller circle under the larger circle instead of how it's shown in the sketch.  The larger circle was raised up using foam mounting tape as were the fox and leaves. I added some sequins for added pizazz to complete my card.

Supplies Used:

Card Stock: Garden Green, Crumb Cake, Smoky Slate and Whisper White.

Ink Pads: Memento Tuxedo Black, Garden Green

Nestabilities Circle Dies, Amuse Studio Dies,

Color Medium - Prisma Color Pencils, Gamsol, Blending Stubs.

Foam Mounting Tape, Sequins, Paper Piercing Tool.

Then I'm entering again for the  and NBUS #18

 and a sketch challenge from

So without further ado here is my card...

For this card I used a never before used stamp set from SU (now retired) called, Tap, Tap, Tap.
Card Stock SU: Craft, Garden Green, Whisper White
Designer Paper, DCWV - Pumpkin Patch.
Ink: Memento London fog & SU Garden Green
Dies: Circle Nestabilities
Fishtail/Flag (MFTS)
Other: Brads (Pink Hedgehog Paper Crafts) and Foam Mounting Tape.

Here is a 2nd view of the card as I had a hard time getting the colors to show decently.

CAS Halloween - Just for Fun

Today I'm sharing a card I made (just for fun) - It's not for any card challenges.  I just decided to use up a piece of fun paper that I had in my stash.

I started with a piece of Basic Black card stock (SU) and then layered the patterned paper (Cloud 9 Design)  From there I colored up the dog image (Inkadinkado) also from my stash of stamps that haven't been used in a long time, if ever.  I used Prisma Color Pencils to color the image and blended with Gamsol.  I highlighted the dogs eyes with a yellow glitter pen and added some clear glitter to the pumpkin.  You can see that better in the close-up below.
The sentiment was stamped on top the pattern paper in Memento Tuxedo black ink.

That's pretty much it for this card.  Super Simple but super cute and a great way to highlight patterned paper.

Color Throwdown #610

Hello and thank you for joining me today.

I'm back again with another card for the current Color Throwdown challenge.

This weeks colors are: Red, Yellow/Orange, Cream and Brown.

I purchased a pack of patterned paper at JoAnn's  - The packet is Pumpkin Patch and is from DCVW (Die Cuts With a View). There was one piece in particular that caught my eye and I though it would work great for this color challenge.

My problem was then finding a stamp in my collection that I thought would work with the paper.  I rummage around and came up with a stamp I've used before but like so I built my card around it and the patterned paper I bought.

Below is a close up of the patterned paper.  It has a glossy finish on the mushrooms.

Details:  Card Stock Used, Early Espresso, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie & Whisper White (Stampin Up).  The cream piece is from another card stack that I don't know the name of.  It has a slight textural look as well.

Stamps: Gnome Clover from Stampendous, Sentiment stamp from Wordsworth.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black.

Dies from Nestabilities.

Other: Cream colored twine (unknown source), Optic Dot punch (Martha Stewart), Foam Mounting tape.

The image was colored with various Prisma Color Pencils and blended with Gamsol. I added the brown dots on the mushroom with a colored pencil.

There you have it.  - Again I encourage you to give the Color Throwndown a try.  It's a lot of fun.

Twofer Card Challeges, NBUS and Sunday Stamps

 Howdy & Welcome.

Today I have a couple of different cards to share with you for 3 separate challenges.  Badges will be listed at the bottom of the post.

Both of these cards I'm submitting for the current Twofer Challenge #31 - Trees - This is my first time trying this challenge and I had already stamped both my cards before I read that you had to use the same stamp (not stamps from the same set) to create your cards.  I actually did use the same stamp for both cards but added other stamps from the set to complete them.  So hopefully this time I can still submit for the challenge and I'll try to follow the correct rules the next time.

The 2nd card is being submitted for the NBUS #18 Challenge and lastly the first card will go for the Sunday Stamps SSC239 Autumn Awakenings challenge.

So for both these cards I used a stamp set from Wordsworth that I had never used before.

For the first card I used Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Chocolate Chip, and Sage Shadow Card Stock (all SU - Some are retired colors. I also used More Mustard ink for the Owl (which was fussy cut and mounted with foam tape) - I stamped the SU Background Woodgrain with More Mustard Ink and then layered the designer paper, Maple Grove from We Are Memory Keepers. The tree trunk was stamped with Early Espresso Ink as was the Sentiment Stamp. Scallop and Circle dies were also used.  I tied ribbon from Amuse studio and added some rust colored brads to complete the card.

For the second card I used the same tree trunk stamp but stamped it in Green Galore ink (retired SU) and used the swirl stamps from the set stamped in Tempting Turquoise, Brilliant Blue, Lovely Lilac, Pink Passion

and Only Orange (also retired SU colors).  The bird was stamped in Real Red ink and fussy cut and mounted with foam mounting tape.

The background paper is from American Crafts Picnic in the Park series that I purchased today for this card. I stamped the (Hi) sentiment from the set with Memento Tuxedo black in and mounted them on rectangle dies.

I hope you've enjoyed my creations as much as I did creating them.

NBUS Challenge #18 Grateful For You

Hello everyone.  It's been fun getting back into stamping but at the same time I find myself struggling for ideas on cards since I've been absent for so long.  One of my good stamping friends, Leslie Miller, (Running with Scissors) posted a card on a blog called, NBUS.

Now you might be wondering just what NBUS means so simply stated it stands for: Never-Before-Used-Schtuff.  I don't know about you but I have plenty of papers, dies, stamps that have sat in drawers not being shown any stamping/crafting love so I thought this challenge would be right up my alley.  So here is my first submission for this challenge.

For this card I used some Dies from Cuttlebug that I had never used before (leaves and acorn), Some patterned paper from We Are Memory Keepers, the sentiment stamp from Unity and ribbon from Amuse Studio.

Card Stock colors: Chocolate Chip (retired SU). More Mustard (retired SU), Really Rust (retired SU), Sage Shadow (retired SU) and Very Vanilla.  The patterned paper was from a collection called, Maple Grove sold by WeAreMemoryKeepers and is also retired.

I also used Oval Dies.  The sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso ink and I dabbed some Chocolate Chip ink on the embossed acorn. The acorn was mounted on the card stock with mounting tape.

If you have any questions about this card feel free to e-mail me.

Thank you for stopping by.

Color Throw Down and HHSSSC347

Hello & Welcome.

Today I'm joining in on 2 different challenges.  The first is the Color Throwdown challenge.

The next challenge is the Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge.

What a pretty color combo (Blue, Purple and Green).  I decided to use a die and stamp that I've used before.  You can find that card here:

I made that card way back in 2009 so it's been awhile since I've used the stamp and the die.

So without further ado here is the card that I made for these two challenges: I "loosely" followed the sketch.

Card Stock used for this card:  Not Quite Navy, Pale Plum, Perfect Plum and Whisper White.  The frog was die cut (not sure where I got the die) from an unknown piece of textured card stock.  I also used some unknown patterned background paper.

The Cattail Stamp is from DJ Inkers and the Hello sentiment is from Annabelle Stamps (which is no longer in business).

I colored the cattails with Prisma Color Pencils, Added glitter to the butterflies and the little bug which was punched from Pale Plum Card Stock.

The sentiment was stamped with Pear Pizzazz ink and mounted on to circles punched with Pale & Perfect Plum card stock.  I added purple stickles glitter glue to the frogs eyes.  The fish tail punch is from My Favorite Things stamps.
