Paper Players Sketch Challenge #655

Before I get started on today's card I wanted to post a, Thank You for being chosen as one of the, CUT ABOVE for this card a couple of weeks ago. It's always an honor when you get chosen.

Now let's move on to this weeks Paper Players Challenge #655 which is a Sketch Challenge.  LeAnne was the design team member this for this weeks challenge and she chose a fun sketch with many possibilities for creativity.

Here is what I came up with for my card:

I started with a card base of Basic Black card stock.  Next I found a piece of patterned paper, (DCWV - Halloween Town) - I remembered that I had a rubber stamp of some, Jail Birds from a Inkadinkado Stamp set that reminded me of the paper patterned.

I stamped the birds on Basic White card stock and colored them with pencils.  I added some Key Lime glitter (Art Institute) on their eyes for added sparkle.  I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set with Memento Tuxedo black ink on a piece of Tangerine Tango* retired SU card stock.  It was cut out with a Stylish Die from SU and mounted on a black piece of card stock cut out with a Nestability die.  I mounted the birds with some foam tape for dimension and added some sequins (Picket Fence Studios) to complete the card.  The little strip is the same piece of patterned paper just cut differently.

I kept this one pretty CAS but I think it's a rather fun little Halloween card and hope you do as well.

3 in One Challenge

Had to hurry to get this in under the wire:  PP654

Our computer periodically acts up (today was one of those days) and I barely got this posted in time to meet the deadline.

The first challenge was for the Paper Player CAS - Don't Bug Me #PP654.

Then Freshly Made Sketches is celebrating their 600th sketch challenge this week. - That is amazing & wonderful.

Finally the Color Throwdown colors were: Grey, Aqua and Green.  - Here is what I created for these three challenges combined in this one card.

My card for Paper Players, Freshly Made Sketches and Color Throwdown.

Details will follow soon.   - Card Base, Basic Gray, Pool Party (I almost typed Poop party)....

Next a piece of unknown origin designer paper that was white, aqua and had hints of green.  I used a punched border of Lemon Lime Twist. - The punch is from, EK Success.

The butterfly (Stampendous - Winged Cup stamp set) and was stamped with Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored with pencils.  I also used a butterfly stamp from a retired SU set, Beyond the Basics.  I stamped it on the circle with the Lemon Lime Ink and on the Pool party piece with Pool Party ink.  Added a piece of Bakers Twine, Some Enamel Dots (Paper Studio) - The sentiment was stamped in Basic Gray ink and punched with a retired SU punch.  The sentiment is from Amuse Studio.

CTD, FMS & NBUS Challenges

Did you ever have an idea for a card in your head and try to create it to fit that image? - Well that's exactly what happened when I saw this weeks Color Throwdown#756 and the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches#599

I wanted to combine the two challenges and also use some new stamps from this months KOM from Unity (Phases) so this will also be entered for NBUS#53

Here is what I came up with for these two challenges.

This was a card of (trial and error) as I stamped several of the image trying to figure out just how I wanted it to look.

Card Details:  Card Base: Mossy Meadow (SU) Orange layer is Tangerine Tango (*retired SU - Oh how I miss that orange)
Designer Paper is from an old Basic Grey pad I've had for years and just found a piece of that fit the colors in the throwdown challenge.

Next I used a piece of Early Espresso (SU) and a Martha Stewart Punch to create the drip.  That was sprayed with some Distressed Bronze Mica Spray (Tim Holtz - Ranger)

I then made a tag with Crumb Cake (Kraft - SU) card stock and blended some Espresso Ink around the edges.  I stamped the background  image from the KOM with the Early Espresso Ink.  Then I used my Versa Mark pad and stamped the Witch Image and embossed her with Terra Cotta Tapestry embossing Powder (Personal Stamp Exchange - which I believe is no longer in business.)

I stamped the sentiment (Boo and Stuff) also in the KOM with Early Espresso Ink and used some clear Embossing Powder on it.  That was layered on top of the Witch with foam tape and the tag was also mounted with foam tape.  The ribbon was a piece of *retired SU Chocolate Grosgrain that I pulled loose and looped through the tag so it has a frayed look.  I also brushed the Espresso Ink over it to darken it up a little.

Finally I added some sequins from Picket Fence Studio (Witches Brew) to complete the card. - I was super happy with how this turned out.

This shows a little of the detail of the embossing powder and the Mica Spray:

Color Throwdown #755 - Card2

I liked the colors in the CTD#755 challenge so much that I played around and created a second card for the challenge.  This was the first card I posted: (Click for larger view)

Here is my second card:
I went a totally different direction on this card.  I happened to spot some patterned paper in my stash and thought it would make a fun Christmas card with some not so traditional colors and patterns.
Card Base: Real Red, Basic White Layer, Patterned Paper is from DCWV-Basics and Brights.  I used the red piece because the patterned reminded me of poinsettias.  Then I got out my Waffle Flower Poinsettia die and cut of 2 in red and one in white.  I layered the patterned paper on a circle of Granny Apple Green cs and die cut some leaves in the same paper.  The leaves are from another company.  Next I added a distressed piece of Summer Sun* (retired SU) card stock and a piece of patterned paper in a yellow tone.
I embossed the sentiment (Brightest Glow - SU) with Bold Black embossing powder.  I finished off the card with some sequins and added some yellow glitter to the center of the poinsettia berries.
Another CAS design and my very first Christmas card of the year!

Color Throwdown #755 and NBUS#53

Today I'm sharing a card I created for this weeks Color Throwdown Challenge #755.

The colors are so fun!

Here is the card I created for the challenge:

How cute is that little Chameleon! - I found this set at the Dollar store (although now you pay, 1.25).  - It had 18 stamps in the set.  You can't go wrong with a bargain like that.  I worried that they might now be very high quality stamps but I didn't have any problems with them.

Also going in for NBUS#53 since it's a brand new set.

I started with a card base of Granny Apple Green.  Then a layer of Basic White.  I added a strip of Real Red cs that I stamped the paint brush and paint roller images on with Real Red ink.  The chameleon was stamped with Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored with various colored pencils.  I layered that to a piece of Summer Sun* (retired SU) card stock.  I used the Stylish Dies (SU) for the circle the chameleon was on and a Nestability die for the summer sun circle.  I mounted that with foam tape.  The sentiment was stamped in the same black ink and mounted on a piece of the summer sun cs.  To finish the card off I added some green enamel dots (Paper Studio).

Click on the image to enlarge and I hope you can see the images on the red piece a bit better.

Beautiful Summer - Paper Player Theme Challenge #652 and NBUS#53

Welcome.

Sometimes I'm a "day late and a dollar short" as they say on the challenges.  This card was supposed to go in for one of the Freshly Made sketches a couple of weeks ago. - Trouble was I couldn't seem to finish it in a way that I thought looked good so it's sat on my desk until today.  I finally finished it and am entering for The Paper Players Theme Challenge.

Here is the sketch (FMS#596) - Note this is just so you can see where I got my inspiration from as it's way to late to enter it for the sketch challenge.

Here is the mood board for The Paper Players PP652

Here is the card I made:

So for this card I used one of the Mermaid tales from the Unity July KOM along with the Seagulls, Wave & Sentiment from the same kit.  Since these are being used for the first time they will also go in for NBUS#53

So for this card my card base is: Blueberry Bushel (SU) my first time using this color (I like it).  Then I stamped the way image on a piece of Basis White cs with Blueberry Bushel ink and colored it in with a Copic marker.  I also stamped some dots (retired SU Itty Bitty Backgrounds) with Pretty Peacock ink randomly on the wave image.  Next the Mermaid tail was stamped with Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored with Copic Markers and fussy cut.  I then pressed the image onto a Versa Mark pad and embossed with Iridescent Ice EP (which I believe is retired SU) - You can see in the 2nd shot how shimmery it is.  I mounted it with foam tape after stamping the seagulls with black ink.  The sentiment was stamped with MTB ink and mounted on a piece of Pool Party cs.  To complete the card I added some enamel dots (Paper Studio).

Hope you enjoy this card.  It's a CAS card again and I'm actually starting to get the hang of them I think.

Color Throwdown #754 and NBUS#53

Welcome.  Today I am joining the Color Throwdown Challenge #754
Below is the inspiration photo for the challenge:

Here is the card that I created for the challenge:

This is a pretty CAS card (and for me that is something I find hard to do) but I really like how this one turned out.

Card Base: Mossy Meadow - Layered with Basic White (SU)

Crumb Cake Layer - Stamped with Mossy Meadow and Crumb Cake inks. (SU) Plants are from Unity - April 2023 KOM

I also used White Pigment Ink (Stampabilities) and the Itty Bitty Backgrounds (SU) that I stamped randomly on the crumb cake piece.

Sentiment Stamped with Crumb Cake ink. (SU)

Designer Paper - Strip from Safari Chic Matstack (DCWV)

Finished off with some soft chocolate colored pearls.

Also going in for NBUS #53  Since the plants and sentiment are being used for the first time.

NBUS#52

Welcome! - Summer seems to be zipping by quickly so I thought I'd best post this card before it's Autumn!

NBUS#52

Now I must admit this card really was a hard one for me.  I have an "aversion" to eating watermelon (it makes me sick) so I think psychologically I just couldn't seem to get this card to cooperate with me!  - I persevered though and finally ended up with something that I liked.

Card Base: Berry Burst (SU) layered with Basic White and then an embossed panel of Shaded Spruce.  The Watermelon Pops and Sentiment are from my NEW Unity KOTM (Anchored by Love).

I colored the pops with Copic markers (still learning how to use them) and fussy cut them out.  Layered on SU Stylish Dies and Circle Die with matching colors.

Sentiment Stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Added Gems to complete the card.

I also stamped one of the pops in Berry Burst ink on the inside of the card.

Embossing folder is from Paper Studio.

Freshly Made Sketches #594 and Card2 for ColorThrowdown#751

Wow - 2 cards in one week! - Yes it's nice to have had some time to be creative and stamp.

This time I'm joining Freshly Made Sketches for sketch #594

This one was a little tough for me.

Here is the card that I created. - It uses the same stamp set and colors from the Color Throwdown#751 that I used for my card yesterday.

Colors used:  Aqua, Kraft, Gold and Cream.
Stamp Set - Unity Whit Kit - Meadow of Hope
Inks: Pool Party, Coastal Cabana (SU) and retired Bermuda Bay (SU), Crumb Cake
Card Stock: Bermuda Bay, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Metallic Gold.
Die: Thanks Die - Part of the Unity Kit, Circle Die (SU Stylish Dies)
Marbled Background - Unity Rainbow Alcohol Ink Paper - This came with the kit but is now sold separately.
Gold Gems - Unity
Enamel Dots - Paper Studio
Wink of Stella was used on the butterflies to add some shimmer.

I edged the Crumb cake Ink and Around the Circles and some Coastal Cabana around the strip of Crumb Cake.

Color Throwdown #751

 Welcome!

Today I am joining in on the Color Throwdown #751 - The colors are Aqua, Kraft, Gold and Cream.

Here is the card that I created for the challenge:

For this card I used the April Whit Card Kit: Meadow of Hope from Unity Stamps.  The stamp kit also included a paper pack (which I did not use for this card) and the Thanks Die and Shadow Die.

I stamped the Meadow down on Crumb Cake cs with Memento Tuxedo black ink.  Then I colored it with Prisma Colored pencils.  I added some gold dots using the retired SU Itty Bitty Backgrounds stamp set & Encore Gold Metallic ink.  I cut a portion of the image out using the circle die from SU Stylish die set.

The card base is Very Vanilla cs - SU
Layered with Coastal Cabana cs - SU - the sentiment was stamped with the Memento Tuxedo black ink.

I used a piece of retired SU Bermuda Bay card stock for the offset circle (I miss Bermuda Bay).

The "Thanks was cut with Gold card stock and Coastal Cabana.
I added some gold gems that came with the Whit card kit to complete the card.  The main image was mounted with foam tape to give it some dimension.

So that's it for this card. - For those who sent up prayers for my hubby he is home and doing fair.  He still has some issues he is dealing with so continued prayers are greatly appreciated.

Paper Players Sketch Challenge #646 & NBUS

 Hello & Welcome

Today's card is getting in under the wire for the Paper Players Sketch Challenge #646.
I got out my June Whit Card Kit and quickly whipped up this card for the challenge.

Also another new product for NBUS #51

Details:  Card Base: Balmy Blue (SU), Layered with Bubble Bath (SU) and the cute heart designer paper that is part of the Whit Kit.

Stripes are Washi Tape which comes with the kit.
I stamped the Hot Air Balloon with Balmy Blue ink (SU) and used the matching die (also part of the kit) to cut it out.  Then I cut out one adorable little stitched cloud (the kit comes with 2 clouds) and edged it with Bubble Bath Ink.

The sentiment was stamped with Memento Tuxedo black in.
I mounted the balloon and cloud with foam tape to complete the card.

Simple, Easy & Adorable (IMO).

So it's been a wild and crazy week for me. - Last Friday at 4:30 am I was awaken by a loud crash and saw my hubby flop onto the bed.  I bolted upright and asked if he was okay.  He was not...we thought he was having a heart attack.  After calling 911 and getting him transported to the hospital where tests were run and drugs were administered we learned he had a stroke.  - Needless to say the rest of the week was spend making several trips to the hospital daily to see him.  First in ICU and then to another unit.  Thankfully he is now home and doing fairly well.  He struggles with balance now and is using a walker but no paralysis, no speech problems, and the double vision problem is easing up. - He will start Physical Therapy next week.  We are so thankful they were able to give him a drug in time to prevent a worse stroke.

I'm thankful for a few minutes today to stamp this card.

Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by.

Elegant Grunge & NBUS #51

Hello and Welcome!

Today I am sharing a card that I created for a friend having a birthday this week. - She collects Eiffel Tower objects and has been to Paris so I thought it would be a fitting card for her.

Here is the card - Details below:

I had asked her what her favorite colors were and she said, Blue and Red.  I decided to go with Red and Black for this card.

Card Base: Basic Black, layered with Basic White that I stamped various elements from Unity Stamps (Eiffel Grunge) stamp set.

I stamped the Eiffel Tower image 3 times.  One on the tag portion that I also stamped the grunge elements on.  The other 2 images I cut out using the die that comes with the stamp set.  They were layed on top of the main image with foam dots to raise it up.  The main image was colored with pencils and blended with Gamsol.

I used a piece of SU Christmas Designer paper for the red stripe portion of the card.  I added a punched border (EK Success) and some red gems to complete the look.  It reminds me of Paris and Can-Can dancers.  So this now has a grunge look that is also elegant.

Since this is a new set I'm submitting to  NBUS #51

Triple B Challenge - May and NBUS#50

Please share our badge! I found a new challenge blog through my good friend, Leslie (Running With Scissors)  It's called, Triple B (Birds, Blooms and Butterflies).
You can view Leslie's awesome card HERE

Here is the card that I created for the challenge.

I'm also submitting this for the NBUS challenge #50 since I used some never before used products and also dusted off an old product (and I do mean dusted it off) to use on this card as well.

I started by match this little piece of bird designer paper (I think it's from Paper Studio) I bought it a couple of years ago and then never used it.  I thought the colors were very similar to some of SU's new colors so I went with the following colors:  Lost Lagoon (card base),Calypso Coral (coral circle) and Bubble Bath (small little flowers).

The bird image and sentiment are from a Unity Kit of the Month from June of 2013 and have never been used until now.  I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo black ink and used dauber brushes to ink on the colors mentioned about.  I also used the SU stylish die for the circle that the bird is on and fussy cut the sentiment out.  It was layered over the circles with foam tape.

The little flowers are a punch that came in a kit (Three for You) from Stampin'Up! that has long since been retired.  I had to climb up on my desk to get the kit down from the shelf it sits on and dust it off but I  liked how they accented the card.

The gems in the center came from a Unity as well.  I hope you enjoyed this card. - It's a step out of the box for my normal stamping style but I really like how it turned out.

Grab our badge to display on your blog.
Other Products Used: Corner rounding punch, Foam tape, adhesive glue, glue pen, scissors.

Color Throwdown #743 and NBUS#50

Welcome! - Today I am sharing a card that I created for the current Color Throwdown #743 and for NBUS#50

The new or never used items for this card are new card stock (SU) and Sentiment Stamp (Unity) and Cupcake Stamp (source unknown)

Here is the card that I created for these challenges:

Base of card is a retired SU Pink card stock.  Next layer is Basic White cs that I embossed with large dot embossing folder from Paper Studio.
The cupcake image (which I received years ago in an image swap) was colored with Permanent markers from Shuttleart that I received as a Christmas gift.  This was also my first time using them.  I added some Wink of Stella and a touch of glitter to the cherries.  Both were mounted on rectangle dies.  The sentiment was stamped with Memento Tuxedo black ink.
Here's a little of how the cupcake shimmers:

I hope you enjoyed your visit and the card.  I had fun creating it.
